This is a picture of Grace and Thomas with their children taken around 1926. Pictured on grandpa's lap is Peter and next to him Anne Marie, my mother, then Thomas, Kathleen and little Bernard on grandma's lap. My mother was about six years old. Five year latter in 1931 grandma Grace, Bernard and little Grace, who was not yet born when this picture was taken, would be dead.
Diphtheria, Scarlet Fever and grief in 1931 would take their lives.
To this day the Corrigan and Joyce families live and own land on Achill Island, in Castlebar and Galway.
